What is the routine maintenance schedule for my chiller?

Your chiller's health comes down to one thing: keeping water flowing freely through it. Restricted flow is the number one cause of serious chiller damage, and that damage is not covered under warranty.

Weekly: turn off the chiller, open the filter compartment (the black ring with the clear center on top of the unit), remove the basket filter, and scrub it with hot soapy water and a sponge until it is close to new. Do this even when it looks spotless. Biofilm forms an invisible layer that restricts flow.

With multiple people plunging daily, move to every 2 to 3 days instead of weekly.

After you reinstall the filter, if the compartment bubbles, crack the lid to bleed the air until a little water seeps out.

Quarterly: blow out the condenser coils on the back of the chiller with compressed air so dust and lint do not choke the airflow.

Always: keep at least 12 inches of clearance on the exhaust side.

Freezing weather: do not run the chiller below 32°F unless it has been winterized. Disconnect it and drain it completely.
