How do I clean and maintain my plunge?
Daily: keep debris out, wipe it down, and use the skimmer net before each plunge. Use a sanitizing agent as needed. We sell both chlorinated and non-chlorinated kits.
Every few days: check your water with the test strips and add chemicals as needed to keep the levels correct.
Every 4 to 6 weeks: fully change the water. Do it more often with heavy use, or if people are getting in with lotions or oils on their skin.
Deep cleaning: how often depends on what you see. A well-maintained indoor plunge may only need it quarterly, while heavy use calls for a scrub at most water changes.
Yellow stains or growth: start gentle with baking soda and Dawn dish soap. If that does not lift it, OxiClean is the next step. Clean every surface, including the spots that are easy to miss, because any missed patch lets it spread back. If it returns, follow up with a vinegar and water solution.
Mineral stains: a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and hot water, left 15 to 30 minutes, then scrub gently.
One caution: rinse all soap away completely before refilling. Soap residue left in the system feeds biological growth.
These are starting points, not fixed rules. What your plunge needs varies with where it lives, how warm it is outside, how many people use it, and how often. An outdoor plunge in a hot or dusty spot needs attention more often than one kept indoors. Watch your water and adjust to what you are actually seeing.
